Ana M. García, Ph.D.

Dr. García is a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed clinical psychologist serving clients in Virginia, Florida, and Puerto Rico. She draws on extensive clinical training and experience across diverse settings.
​
Dr. García provides compassionate, individualized, and evidence-based therapy for adults, using a holistic, biopsychosocial approach. She tailors her therapeutic methods, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), CBT for chronic pain, and trauma-informed care, to each client’s unique needs and goals.

Dr. García also emphasizes the importance of behavioral habits that support emotional well-being. This includes increasing physical activity, improving sleep hygiene, practicing mindfulness, engaging in behavioral activation, and fostering meaningful social connections. She works collaboratively with clients to identify what matters most to them and supports making behavioral changes that help them engage more fully in activities that reflect their priorities and the person they aspire to be, ultimately leading to a more meaningful and fulfilling life.

She is dedicated to creating a supportive, safe, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel empowered to achieve meaningful personal growth. Dr. García has a special interest in working with women who have experienced sexual trauma or childhood trauma, and she provides support for individuals seeking help with anxiety, depression, trauma, and other emotional or behavioral challenges.

Dr. García received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Carlos Albizu University and completed a postdoctoral residency specializing in women’s mental health at the VA Caribbean Healthcare System. Her advanced clinical training includes:

In addition to therapy, Dr. García conducts comprehensive psychological evaluations for ADHD, personality and mood disorders. She also performed autism evaluations using instruments such as the ADOS-2, ADI-R, and MIGDAS-2.

Her clinical expertise is informed by years of service in diverse communities, including work with veterans, women’s mental health, and multicultural populations.
